Basing on studying scientific and theoretical, legislative and regulatory, archival, documentary and periodical sources on the problem of the modernization of the system of the scientific and methodological equipment in pedagogical higher educational establishments from 1980 to 2002 the essence and the contents of the system of the scientific and methodological equipment of higher education were analyzed and the key tendencies in scientific research that encouraged the process of formation of the system of the scientific and methodological equipment of pedagogical higher educational establishments were singled out.
