Essay

The thesis deals with the problem of training the man for educational activity. The development of theory and practice of training the father to educate children in the family has been analyzed. Having taken into account the masculine element and pedagogical context, the definition of "fatherhood" has been substantiated. The evolution of father's role in the Ukrainian family and abroad has been revealed. The criteria and levels of father's pedagogical culture were worked out. The specific character of father-child relationship in two-parent and one-parent family has been determined. The significance of pedagogical background to the process of training the father to educate children in the family has been theoretically explained.
