A complex of problems which are connected with events which occurred in post-war time in the territory of western Ukraine is investigated in this work on the basis of the wide range of sources. The opposition of Soviet government and Ukrainian liberation movement are shown in this dissertation as the opposition of two systems. The structure of Ukrainian underground and the structure of Soviet government were built on horizontal and vertical directions and they aimed to embrace all life spheres of the population of west Ukrainian region. It was established, that the armed struggle of the Soviet government and Ukrainian liberation movement had special forms and methods, they had changed according to the change of political situation in the Western Ukraine. Regular troops, subunits of NKDB-NKVS, as well as paramilitary formations and special groups were actively applied by the Soviet government against OUN(B) and UIA. The Ukrainian insurgents gradually replaced tactics of open struggle against the enemy for the diversive struggle by small groups.
