Essay

It was discovered that Kaniv Cossacks were the part of B. Khmelnytsky army and took part in Cossack rebellion in XVII century, in Ukrainian National War of liberation and in the events of the Ruin. It was considered the process of establishment and functioning of Kaniv Cossack regiment to be the part of Ukrainian Cossack state. Military and political history of Kaniv Cossack regiment is presented, national and social structure of regiment is analysed, register of Starshyna is made. Collected and classified archival information completes the accumulation of genealogical data, which will be favourable in the further development of Cossack history.
