Essay

In the thesis for the first time the comprehensive historical and pedagogical analysis of the formation and development of gymnasium education in the Chernihiv province (XIX - early XX cent.) has been carried based on archival materials and scientific literature. The characteristic features of this process and its main stages are defined, the regularities of the functioning of gymnasiums are revealed in close interconnection with the historical and educational processes that occurred in Ukraine and the Russian Empire of the time.
