The dissertation is dedicated to ethnonational politics of the Central Rada of Ukraine and the Directory of Ukrainian National Republic during National Revolution and Civil War in Ukraine 1917-1921. In-depth study of historiography and multiple historical sources resulted into a conclusion that scientifically this item wasn't explored in a proper way. For the first time in this research the development of juridical basis of the Central Rada of Ukraine in a field of international relations is on view.The chronology of relations between Ukrainian authorities and national minorities is studied. A role of national minorities in governmental system of Ukraine is depicted. The research proves that from the beginning of National Revolution the Central Rada of Ukraine chose a direction of union between national minorities around the idea of renovation of Ukrainian State. A contribution of M. Hrushevsky, V. Vynnychenko, S. Yefremov and other personalities into achieving international consensus is described. A true contribution of Simon Petliura into bringing tolerance among the peoples of Ukraine, especially between Ukrainians and Jews, is examined. The author arrives at the conclusion that in spite of defeat of the Central Rada of Ukraine, heroic struggle and renovation of Ukrainian State became an important step on a way of shaping Ukrainian political nation.
