The object of research: South-Ukrainian region is in the general national historical process at the beginning of the 20th century. The aim of research: the analysis of main components of social and political movements and their peculiarities in the South of Ukraine at the beginning of the 20th century The subject of research: social and political movements in South-Ukrainian region at the beginning of the 20th century, the spectrum of which consisted of Ukrainian national movement, general empire movements, ones of national minorities and the regionalism. The methods of research: logical, classification, parallel and modeling, descriptive, historic-genetic, historic-comparative, problem-chronological, systemic-structural. The results of research and novelty: this is the first time in Ukrainian historiography that a complex analysis of social and political movements has been made on the level of South-Ukrainian region at the beginning of the 20th century. It has been found out that social and political movements were represented by Ukrainian movement, general empire movements, ones of national minorities and the regionalism in the South of Ukraine at the beginning of the 20th century. It has been revealed that Ukrainian national movement in South-Ukrainian region at the beginning of the 20th century wasn't a mass one. The rivals of Ukrainian forces were general empire parties and organizations, the movements of national minorities. The sphere of usage: the further research of the current subject, writing of the synthesis works, manuals, reading of the high school courses on the history of Ukraine.
