In the process of researching the pedagogical legacy of O. Zakharenko, a conclusion has been made that he considered good, conscience, self-respect, justice, diligence, tolerance, etc., the most important humanistic values which need to become a basis for an individual's morals. The dissertation clarifies the idea of the important role of the self-education process for personality formation. A thorough analysis of the use of the pedagogical legacy of O. Zakharenko in the work of comprehensive schools of Cherkasy oblast is given.
