The thesis is the first in Ukrainian historiography to thoroughly research the everyday life of the Right-Bank Ukraine orthodox parish rural clergy in the 1860?ies – 1917. The main functions of the clergy of a parish members have been determined, their rights and duties have been characterized. The relationship between the priesthood and a parish community has been analyzed. The material welfare level of the clerical order as well as that of the minor orders in rural parishes of the Right-Bank Ukraine has been elucidated. The clergymen and their family members’ everyday needs have been covered. The priesthood’s sources of income have been characterized. The clergy of a parish members’ family life has been thoroughly investigated. The traditions of concluding marriages in the Right-Bank Ukraine parish rural clergy in environment have been studied. The role and consequence of a clergyman’s wife within her own family and parish has been reflected. The stages of the clergymen’s children’s upbringing and their studies in religious educational establishments have been traced. The leisure-time activities as well as established behavioral stereotypes of the Right-Bank Ukraine priesthood’s spending their free time have been reflected.
