The dissertation provides an analysis of the formation and development of Ukrainian Studies as a science and academic discipline and the impact of this science on the state processes in Ukraine, which began with its independence. When Ukraine gained its independence, the task of rethinking history and updating the problems of state building has arised. In the new historical circumstances the revival of Ukrainian Studies, which is designed to solve important problems of the modern state, began. This study proves that at the current stage of development of the Ukrainian state an active development of Ukrainian Studies as an integrated system of knowledge about Ukraine and Ukrainians in the world still pending. The modern Ukrainian Studies is understood not as a mechanical aggregate but the philosophical integrity of knowledge about Ukraine and Ukrainians, obtained in the period after the restoration of state independence of Ukraine, and the systematic study of all aspects of Ukrainian being, allowing to gain relatively full and complete knowledge about Ukraine and Ukrainians in time and space.
