Yashanov A. Military and defense forces in Ukraine (1920s - 1930s of the XX century)

Based on the conceptual achievements of modern historiography and using a wide range of diverse sources, author reviewed the historical background of emerging of military and defense forces, their ideological purpose of creation and main issues for further development. The role of Ukrainian Tsoaviahim in the process of organizing the system of youth military education and support to communist campaigns of modernization of the Red Army and the Soviet Navy was identified. Problematic aspects of relationships with the local party leadership, government and the surrounding population were highlighted. Peculiarities of applying of the potential of military and defense forces during the Bolshevik social and economic experiment in the late 1920s and 1930s were analyzed.
