The dissertation is devoted to complex research of the public-political and scientific activity of the famous Ukrainian scholar A. Zhukovsky. It presents information on different periods of life and scientific work of the scholar and establishes the importance of A. Zhukovsky's public-political work, namely his collaboration with Shevchenko Scientific Society, Petliura Library, Ukrainian Historical Society, and World Scholarly Council of the Ukrainian World Congress. A. Zhukovsky's research interests spanned the history of the Bukovyna and of the Ukrainian church, biographic studies, and historical essays on Ukrainian scientific institutions in France.
