Essay

The dissertation is the first complex investigation of formation and development of public charity in the Taurida province in the 19 - at the begging of 20th centuries. With the help of spacious complex of archive sources the main stages of genesis of state care system and public charity in the Crimea and North Taurida have been analyzed. The author reveals history of main public charitable institutions and organizations in the Taurida province. The specific features of welfare foundations have been shown. It is proved that national minorities had been playing an important role in the development of public charity in the Crimea during pre-Soviet period.
