Qais Z. Diagnostic and surgical treatment of esophageal atresia with tracheo-esophageal fistulas in children

An analysis was done made of 184 children with esophageal atresia with tracheo-esophageal fistulas and its complications. The clinical features, variants of operations and risk of complications with was determined. Was devised complex of diagnostic measures for early and detailed verification of esophageal atresia with tracheo-esophageal fistulas and associated malformations in children. Were introduced a complex of procedures that was directed on the elevation of the efficiency of the treatment of esophageal atresia and priority primary method of correction was proposed. Were established the indications and sequence of performing rehabilitating operations for typical complications after surgical treatment of esophageal atresia. Was offered a method of correction of recurrence tracheo-esophageal fistula with the help of demucosed flap. The advanced method of diagnosing and surgical treatment of esophageal atresia with tracheo-esophageal fistulas made it possible to reduce the frequency of recurrences to 18,9% comparing to 25-40% that figurate in literature. The usage of stage by stage treatment of complications esophageal atresia made it possible to reduce the frequency of repeated emergence to 7,2% cases in comparison to 20-25% which is given in literature.
