Object: professional training of the future teachers-philologists at the institutions of higher education; aim: to work out, substantiate theoretically and examine experimentally the model of the development of the future teachers-philologists’ key competences while studying the social subjects and the humanities; methods: analysis of scientific literature, modelling, questionnaire, testing, estimates from experts, pedagogical experiment, methods of mathematical statistics; novelty: the model of the development of the future teachers-philologists’ key competences while studying the social subjects and the humanities at the institutions of higher education has been worked out and substantiated; results: the paper-bag of the diagnostic materials to examine the level of formation of students’ key competences has been collected and adopted; training appliances „Subject Matter”, „English For Humanities” have been created; the store of creative and searching tasks and methodical recommendations for lecturers on their usage in Phylosophy course have been worked out; branch – theory and methodology of professional education
