Essay

Object - dynamics of P-transposon in populations of Drosophila melanogaster; goal - to explore specific traits of the invasion of Ukrainian populations of D. melanogaster by P-transposon compared to the dynamics of this transposon in other populations of the world; methods - genetic, molecular biology, statistical, mathematical; novelty - for the first time hybrid dysgenesis development in P' cytotype has been shown to be sensitive to temperature, for the first time we demonstrate dominance of two mtDNA haplotypes in D. melanogaster populations from Ukraine, for the first time we confirmed the possibility of stochastic loss of transposons from cultured lineages of D. melanogaster; results - we show the presence of P' cytotype in populations of D. melanogaster from Ukraine and demonstrate its sensitivity to temperature, we have detected two waves of invasion of Ukrainian populations of D. melanogaster by non-aboriginal flies, we have detected P-transposon in D. simulans, we demonstrate the possibility of horizontal transmission of endysymbiotic bacteria Wolbachia in the context of Riegler model of P-transposon spread; branch - genetics.
