The thesis devoted to the study of morphological and functional changes of the stomach after toluene exposure and use of thiotriazolin as protector as well during different periods of readaptation. Experimental study was made on white outbred male rats, mature age. Morphometric, polarization-optical, the method of electron microscopy, immuno- fluorescence, biochemical, statistical methods of research were used. It is established, that in animals that survived after intoxication of toluene at different times (1, 7, 30 and 60 days) there is a clear dimorphism in the response of different cell populations, expressed as a gradient of structural disorders in the nucleus and in various organelles of exo- and endocrine cells. During the experiment it was found that damages caused in the differentiated cells and the cambial cells located in the neck glands as well. Damage of progenitor/stem cells violates epithelial tissue homeostasis and maintenance of its stable barrier functions that are provided with regular distribution of cambial cells and their differentiation as a shift in the overlying layers and desquamation of the surface MMS. The observed effect gastric protector thiotriazolin implemented by stimulation of epithelial proliferation, decreased apoptosis process that promotes healing of the damaged surface. The results indicate the feasibility of using thiotriazolin to correct structural changes in the stomach caused by the use of toluene vapors.
