Essay

In the thesis, materials on etiology and spread of gastrointestinal diseases of calves and piglets caused by associations of bacteria and viruses in the farms, and on the improvement of methods of immune correction of young animals are presented. There was detected the range of species of isolated and identified bacteria and viruses, as well as the composition of formed by them microparasitocenosis that play a significant role in the etiology of gastrointestinal diseases in calves and piglets at farms. There has been determined that the most common pathogens in experimental farms are 18 species of bacteria and 6 genera of viruses that cause disease. There have been developed and proposed schemes of prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases of young farm animals with the use of tinctures of Echinacea purpurea and bee propolis. The use of tinctures of Echinacea purpurea and bee propolis affects cellular immunity, increases the total number of T - and B- lymphocytes, thermostable T- lymphocytes, T- helper cells, immunoregulatory index and reduces the percentage of T- suppressor cells and T0- cells, contribute hema- and leucopoiesis in experimental animals. The results of studies in experimental farms give grounds to assert that the use of tinctures of Echinacea purpurea and bee propolis promotes rapid recovery and safety of calves and piglets diseased with gastro-intestinal diseases caused by viruses and bacteria associations, and effects positively on the prevention of these diseases.
