In the research it is firstly comprehensively highlighted the theory and practice of the activity of comprehensive schools with in-depth German learning in Ukraine during the end of the 40s of the 20th century - the beginning of the 21 century; it is determined and characterized the organizationally- pedagogical principles of their activity. The dissertation deals with the stages of such schools' development and the directions of their activity. The normative characteristics of specialized schools are specified in the manuscript. The dissertation focuses on the essence and correlation of the notions "a school with in-depth German learning" and "a specialized school with in-depth language learning".
