Essay

Spontaneous frequencies of chromosome aberrations in peripheral blood lymphocytes of people in age from 12 to 100 years were determined using G-banding metaphase chromosome staining. The increase of chromosome aberrations frequency from adolescents to elderly persons and lowering of chromosome mutagenesis in somatic cells of centenarians was shown. The chromosome sensitivity of persons from different age groups to ionizing radiation in vitro exposure in dose 250 mGy was investigated. The hypersensitivity to radiation exposure in persons aged 12-16 and increase of radiation-induced chromosomal instability in persons aged 61-66 were determined. The distribution of registered lesions among the chromosomes both in intact and in vitro irradiated lymphocytes in persons from different age groups was investigated. The most sensitive chromosome bends to ionizing radiation in vitro exposure in each observed age group were determined.
