Essay

Object: resistance of peas to causal agents of diseases and pests. Aim: to determine the sources for resistance and create original materials for pea breeding combining resistance to the complex of harmful organisms with valuable economical traits. Methods: field, laboratory, statistical. Novelty: resistance to harmful organisms in pea specimens from the world genepool under artificial infections by using the dominating species of causal agents of fusariose root rots and ascochytose is determined; the samples with individual, group and complex resistance to fusariose, ascochytose, pea weevil, bruchus are found; the relationship of pea affection with pathogens and pests from HTC is revealed; the breeding value of pea samples as for the traits of resistance to harmful organisms and donor properties of the sources of resistance are estimated; pea lines, which combine high resistance to causal agents of diseases with the complex of economical traits, are developed; the cultivar of peas combining high resistance to causal agents of diseases with stable yields is created. Results: the trait collection of peas, which has been formed earlier, for the resistance to harmful organisms, is replenished with 121 samples. 13 lines of peas are developed. The pea cultivar Metsenat is created, which combines higher yield potential, high resistance to causal agents of ascochytose, fusariose with the complex of valuable properties. The catalogue containing of 71 sources of resistance is formed. Application stage: 121 sample of the trait pea collection as for the resistance to harmful organisms and 4 selected lines combining valuable traits are registered in the National Centre for Plants genetic resources of Ukraine. The created cultivar of peas Metsenat has been under state trials since 2011. Application area: breeding institutions.
