The investigation object: skull, maxilla, maxillary sinus, dental radixes of maxilla. The investigation goal: studying of anatomic variability and sex peculiarities of maxillary sinus and morphologic preconditions of formation of odontogenic sinusites of maxillary sinus. Methods of research: anatomical (craniometry, comparison); X-ray (X-ray of paranasal sinuses, orthopantomography, computer tomography); registrational (photo, tables); statistical. Theoretical and practical value of the obtained results. The variants of individual anatomic variability of shape and sizes of maxillary sinus, variants of relations between low wall of maxillary sinus and dental radixes may be used for planned operative procedures in stomatology, otorhinolaringology and maxillo-facial surgery. Scientific novelty of the obtained results: It was established, that maxillary sinus has signs of anatomical variability on its shape, sizes and internal structure. The shape and sizes of maxillary sinus don’t depend on length, width and cranial index. Direct strong correlations are revealed between sizes and volume of each sinus, and also between sizes of right and left sinus. The main source of maxillary odontogenic sinusitis was pathology of 16th or 26th dentes. It was established that X-ray of paranasal sinuses allowed to show the odontogenic nature of sinusites in 33,96 % of patients, orthopantomography – in 100 % cases. Computer tomography allowed to visualize the peculiarities of morphological relations between low wall of maxillary sinus and dental radixes with possibility tj determine of sizes of objects. The degree of implementation: results of research implemented into learning process and scientific work in chairs of anatomy, topography anatomy and stomatology in medical universities if Ukraine.
