Essay

The thesis is devoted to the problem of the organization of functional literacy training in the system of adult education of Belgium. During the research the the previous pedagogical investigations of the problem of adult functional literacy has been examined. The theoretical approach to the problem of adult functional literacy has been applied. As the result it has been shown that there exist different kinds of functional literacy, The extended definition of the phenomenon of functional literacy has been precised. Historical and socio-economical prerequisites of the emergence and existence of the fenomenon of functional illiteracy of adults in the contemporary society of Belgium have been determined.
