Essay

The dissertation explores the problem of pupils' multicultural education at the US secondary schools. The introductory part determines the topicality of the problem, defines the goal, tasks, object, and methods of investigation; describes the concept of research, its scientific novelty, theoretical and practical significance. It also provides information on implementation of the research results. Analyzing the process of multicultural education in Ukraine and comparing it with the peculiarities of the respective process in the American secondary school, the thesis works out recommendations on using the US positive experience to develop multicultural education in Ukraine. In this context it is of vital importance to get state support for innovations. It is also crucial to develop appropriate methodological recommendations, education programs, textbooks and lesson plans with multicultural component. Besides, of considerable assistance would be multicultural courses and programs for teachers and prospective teachers.
