Essay

In the dissertation on the basis of a wide range of published sources and archival materials the process of formation and activity of the USSR ODPU-NKVS subdivisions for the protection of Ukraine's state border with Poland and Romania within the territory of Podillia and South - Eastern Volyn' in 1921 - 1939 has been investigated. On the basis of the conceptual gains of modern historiography and a wide variety of sources the author has analyzed the historical circumstances of formation, functional tasks, forms and structure of the frontier guards and highlighted the content and special feathers of service and combat activity of the frontier troops in Podillia and South - Eastern Volyn' in the determined period.
