Essay

Investigated the implementation of compulsory recruiting service by the Jewish population in 1827-1874. Reportred the state policy of the Russian Empire as to the conscription of Jews. The main implementation stages of the recruiting sets are examined. Revealed the position of the Jews in the military cantonments schools. The main forms of avoiding from military service by Jews are determined. Analyzed the effect of conscription on the internal life of Jewish communities in the XIX century.
