Essay

The thesis is based on historical sources and the achievements of the historians, uses the newest methodology. The author deeply studies the land ownership of noble men of Katerinoslav province and the social-economic status of noble men in 1877-1905. In particular, it identifies the position of landownership of noble men of the province in private land sector, land ownership of noble men in certain parts of the province. The attention is also paid to the changes of land ownership of noble men and to their methods of managing the area. The internal structure of Katerinoslav land ownership of noble men, it's strength, origin, stratification according to land and social status have been studied. The author has marked the emperial noble men, who played an important role in history, as well as the local elite among noble landowners. The marshals of nobility of Katerinoslav province were elected from the wealthiest noble families. The case of the family of Mandrykin-Tutkevitch has been taken as an example of origin, land property and relative ties within noble families. The author has touched upon an issue of social-political activity of local noble men in their struggle for their class interests.
