Natalija T. The Chernigiv Theological Seminary in the sociocultural and public life of the Northern Left-bank Ukraine (at the end of the XVIII ? beginning of the XX century)

The dissertation is devoted to the complex research of the history of the Chernigiv Theological Seminary on the base of the wide range of sources the considerable part of which has been entered into scientific circulation for the first time. The structure of the seminary, its financial and material security is characterized. The main directions of teaching and educational process are analysed. On the base of memoirs of the former pupils conditions of living and life of Chernigiv seminarists are recollected. Seminarists' participation in social and political life is reconstructed. The role of teachers and pupils of the seminary in the development of education, science and culture of the Northern Left-bank Ukraine is established.
