Essay

It was studied the peculiarities of restless leg syndrome hemodialysis patients, its impact on quality of life and proinflammatory cytokines (IL-1, IL-17, IL-18, TNF). The efficiency of gabapentin and its impact on the levels of inflammatory cytokines and quality of life in 85 patients CKD VD with the restless leg syndrome who were treated with a hemodialysis is evaluated. In patients who were received a hemodialysis therapy, the restless leg syndrome occurs in 63 ± 2% of cases. The frequency of the restless leg syndrome in hemodialysis' patients compared with the general population does not depend on gender and age; and not caused by a type of the kidneys' damage, the level of urine output, a duration of the hemodialysis' treatment, the level of urine before hemodialysis and a dose of a hemodialysis. The higher weight, BMI and blood pressure, which required the use of more antihypertensive drugs is observed in dialysis patients with the restless leg syndrome. The use of gabapentin is accompanied by the decrease of intensity of the restless leg syndrome symptoms, improving quality of life and reduces level of TNF serum in patients treated with a programmed (comprehensive) hemodialysis. The key findings are that survival during a hemodialysis program is significantly higher in patients on a hemodialysis therapy without the RLS compared to those with the RLS.
