The dissertation represents the analysis of the character and trends of educational and charity activities of foreigners on the territory of South Ukraine and their contribution to the development of social and humanitarian infrastructure of the region. The evolutions of foundation, organizational principles and the activity of foreigners' charities have been studied. The trends of charitable activity such as attendance, non-recurrent aid payments, and educational grants have been characterized. It is shown the peculiarities of charities in Odessa where foreign consular agencies and foreign businessmen were concentrated and it caused the extensive development of charitable infrastructure. The activity of foreigners' charities in the field of education has been analyzed; the main trends, foundation and specific character of charity system in the field of education have been studied. The activity of Catholic, Lutheran, Protestant, Mennonite, Judaic, Karaim and Orthodox organizations is considered in the context of confessional factor. The peculiarities of educational activity of church and religious organizations have been determined and analyzed. The personal factors of charity and education have been found out; historical portraits of foreign enthusiasts of charity and education have been presented.
