Polianetska I. Selection-genetic improvement of Triticum spelta L. and its application in selection of Triticum aestivum L.

The object of the research is the inheritance character in F3-5 and F4-5 hybrid populations received by crossing Triticum aestivum L. and Triticum spelta L. and creating a new selective material of winter spelt wheat and soft winter wheat with high quality grains. The purpose of the research is defining morphological and biological peculiarities of the spelt wheat and the efficiency of its application in breeding soft wheat and creating on this basis selectively valuable parent material as well as studying the inheritance of the main commercially valuable features in hybrid generation. The methods of the research are field, visual, measuring-weighing, chemical, statistical methods. The main indexes of commercially valuable features of winter spelt wheat were established for the first time in Ukraine and the efficiency of creating high yielding and high protein parent material due to genetic recombination of Triticum spelta L. and Triticum aestivum L. was shown. Crossing Triticum spelta L. and Triticum aestivum L. made it possible to create the varieties of winter wheat Artemicia and Artia which were delivered to the State Variety Testing Agency, and the Certificate of Authorship for the spelt wheat variety Zoria Ukrainy was received. Introduction of the research results: the created 67 new selective numbers of winter wheat with the high protein and gluten content are used in the selective and academic programs of Uman National University of Horticulture. The sphere of application is selection research institutions.
