Essay

Object: Object: The features of display and formation of productivity characteristics and its structural elements, creation of basic and attributive tobacco collections by quantitative characteristics and information system, definition of selective utility of the gene fund. Aim: Definition of selective utility of the tobacco gene fund by the basic economic features based on systematization of source material, creation of the basic collection on passport data, creation of the attributive collections by complex quantitative traits and by the level of environmental variability and creation of source material for high productivity selection. Methods: Field, laboratory, selective, cluster, statistical. Novelty: The dependence has been established between formation of quantitative traits and their components and the geographical origin, botanical taxonomy, the method of creating and genealogy. Based on cluster analysis, the groups of varieties for value of major quantitative traits have been defined. The features of morphological traits have been studied and on this basis the basic and attributive tobacco collections have been created. The sources of valuable traits have been distinguished. The model of prediction of tobacco crop, based on the information on a variety's quantitative traits, has been developed. The passport database "Tobacco gene fund" has been created and selection of source material for specific selection programs has been conducted. Results: the basic collection of tobacco and shag (291 sample) and attributive collections of tobacco based on quantitative characteristics have been formed, parameters of 24 features that characterize the selection material for morphological, biological, technological and chemical characteristics have been established, the varieties - patterns for basic morphological characteristics that correlate with productivity have been selected, the model for prediction of crop of tobacco on the basis of information about plant height, leaf size and number of leaves has been developed. Application stage: the certificates of registration at the National Center of Plants Genetic Resources of Ukraine have been received for 8 selection-valuable varieties which are included in the National genetics bank of Ukraine (Berley 9, Virginia 16, Ugorskyi (Hungarian) 22, Gostrolyst 29, Gostrolyst Gigant (Giant), Gostrolyst 21/1, Gostrolyst 6, Berley Gigant (Giant)), 7 varieties of tobacco (SV-13, Virginia 27, Zhovtolystyi 36, Symvol 4, VMS-24, Bravyi 200 and Spectr) have been created and included to the State Register of plant varieties suitable for dissemination in Ukraine, gathered collection material is widely used in the selection programs of research institutions of Ukraine: Transcarpathian Institute of agroindustrial production (AIP) of NAAS, Ukrainian Research Station of tobacco of Ternopil Institute (TI) of AIP of NAAS. Application area: selection institutions.
