The dissertation describes the place and the role of urban-type settlements in the settlement pattern of Ukraine using the case of Lviv Oblast. Recent trends of their demographic and ethno-cultural development are studied. The differences of the settlement locations and demographic development are marked out at the raion level within Lviv Oblast.
