Essay

This thesis developed and improved models and methods of rolling stock identification at the marshalling yards and the adjacent railway tracks. The research into the impact of various factors on the process of rolling stock identification is conducted and the respective conclusions are made. The mathematical model of the process and the number and wheel pair determination procedure for rolling units on one-point and two-point test area are improved. The new scientific results are obtained that improve determination efficiency of rolling units types, by using the error function for definition of interaxial distance from the distance between the sensors, the measured interaxial distance, the accuracy of the point track sensors. Tasks for research, analysis and recommendations as to accuracy improvement of the existing and the proposed methods for determination of rolling unit types and interaxial distance measurement are formulated. The mathematical model of the train identification process using WLTG (wagon list telegram), based on the probabilistic approach, is developed.
