Dissertation investigates the process of recruitment for judicial office as one of the ways to reform the judicial system of Ukraine. There are defined historical stages of the recruitment process for judges in Ukraine, revealed major shortcomings and problematic aspects of the legal regulation requirements and procedure for selection of candidates for judicial office in Ukraine, made proposals for their elimination. The system of principles of professional psychological selection of candidates for judges is developed. The basic elements of the state mechanism for training and retraining of judges in Ukraine and its priorities are defined.
