2. The dissertation offers a new solution to the scientific and practical problem, which is to develop new and improve existing theoreticalpositions and practical recommendations for the formation of a corps of professional judges in Ukraine. According to the resultsof the dissertation for the first time: on the basis of theory and practice it is substantiated that the effective formation of the corps of professionaljudges in Ukraine directly depends on the following 4 aspects- features of formation and application of criteria of selection of candidates for positions of judges, system of an estimation of quality of work of court (judges), public control over quality of judicial case andconstitutional and legal requirements; it is substantiated that the assessment of professional activity as a judge, based on the characteristicsof the career of judges in Ukraine, taking into account the experience of the European Union, should be carried out according to the criteriacharacterizing the following 4 types of competence - professional (functional), personal (intellectual, situational), social, leadership (when holding an administrative position). In the dissertation also presents the main structural components of the system of quality assessment of the court.
