Object: pedagogical activity of teachers of small schools. Objective: to develop, theoretically explain and experimentally check the model and pedagogical conditions of the development of the professional competence of teachers of small schools in the process of post-graduate education. Methods: the study and analysis of philosophical, psychological and pedagogical, methodical literature, legislative documents, that regulate the activities of institutions of secondary and post-graduate education, - to determine the extent of knowledge of the problem and theoretical-methodological bases of research, content analysis, comparison, generalization, classification, systematization; empirical; pedagogical experiment with the quality and quantitative analysis results; methods of mathematical statistics. Novelty: it was carried out and theoretically grounded model, pedagogical conditions of the development of professional competence of teachers of small schools in the system of post-graduate education: development of value orientations of teachers, motivated readiness for the improvement of professional competence and needs in the self-improvement; getting the knowledge and skills of innovation activities; extension of psycho-pedagogical and subject knowledge of teachers and acquisition of practical skills in accordance with the peculiarities of educational activity in small school; monitoring the development of all components of professional competence of teachers in the process of post-graduate education and self-education; it is widened the essence of the term as "professional competence of the teacher of small schools", "the readiness of teachers to educational activity in conditions of small schools"; It is singled out the structural components of readiness of teachers to educational activity in conditions of small schools; It is defined the criteria, indicators of formation of professional competence of teachers in small schools: motivational, cognitive, operationally - practical, reflective - creative, levels of formation of professional competence of teachers in small schools; future developmet was given to the idea of formation of professional competence, professionalism, pedagogical skills of teachers in the process of post-graduate education.
