Antуpenko G. World Outlook and Life Activity of O. F. Kistiakivsky

The object of this investigation is Aleksandr Fedorovich Kistiakovskii. The purpose of the dissertation is a scholarly historical reconstruction of the system of views and multifaceted activities of A.F. Kistiakovskii in order to define his place and role in the intellectual and public life of Ukraine in the second half of the nineteenth century I have employed universal scientific methods (historical, logical, analytical, synthetic), as well as specifically historical methods (biographical, historical-psychological, historical-genetic, historical-typological, systems-structural, problematic-chronological, and comparative-historical). The theoretical and practical results of the work will be a complex understanding of the world view and life work of Aleksandr Fedorovich Kistiakovskii. I identify the factors and stages in the formation of the world view of the man of letters. The participation of A. Kistiakovskii in the civic movement is revealed, his views on the emergence of Ukrainian self-awareness are illuminated. Kistiakovskii emerges as a person like others, with an ordinary person's virtues and shortcomings. His family relationships, which were at times quite complicated, are also investigated. I will explore the intellectual, social-political, and charitable activities of Kistiakovskii. In practical terms, the significance of the dissertation lies in the fact that the material and its analysis will become available for use in teaching general courses on the history of Ukraine, as well as in the elaboration of specialized courses on the history of civic movements, education, and science in the nineteenth century, and in the preparation of any Ukrainian biographical dictionary.
