Makukh C. Clinical and Pharmaceutical Justification of the Rational Phytotherapy in Health Care of Ukraine

Object - rationality of phytotherapy; aim - clinical and pharmaceutical substantiation and developing a model of rational phytotherapy in health care in Ukraine; methods - systematic approach and analysis, bibliographical, structural and logical analysis, sociological (questionnaires), clinical and pharmaceutical, clinical and pharmacological, statistical, marketing, pharmacoeconomical, modeling analysis; novelty - obtained new science-based results that generally solve important scientific tasks relating to prevention of incorrect administration of herbal medicines, providing of experts evidence-based information on herbal medicines with proven clinical efficacy, establishing compliance between physician and patient in a scope phytotherapy and consequently improving the quality, safety, clinical and cost effectiveness of herbal medicine; results - designed and scientifically grounded model of rational phytotherapy in health care in Ukraine, which is formed of three main components: evidence-based phytotherapy, phytopharmaceutical care and therapeutic interchange. The format of state formulary articles on herbal medicines was improved. The database of evidence-based herbal medicine "Clinical efficacy of herbal medicines" was created and implemented. The definition "phytopharmaceutical care" was introduced and its main lines was worked out. The unified methodology for therapeutic interchange of synthetic drug for the herbal was processed using the methodology of assessing potential drug-related problems (PDRP). The ratio of clinical and economic benefit of drugs was applied as the main criterion for the therapeutic interchange of synthetic drug for the plant; introduced - data obtained has been used in teaching practice in universities and medicinal process of the city health-care facilities; industry - pharmacy.
