Essay

Object of study: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), the aim - to evaluate the clinical, functional and immunological characteristics of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in the Chernobyl clean-up workers in a remote post-accident period to optimize the examination and treatment; methods of investigation: clinical, X-ray examination of the chest, general clinical and laboratory tests, pulmonary function tests, the study of cellular and humoral immunity, informational and statistical; innovation: for the first time in a remote post-accident period defined clinical and functional and immunological features of COPD in liquidators of the Chernobyl accident in 1986-1987 and provide recommendations to optimize the examination and treatment of these patients. Dose dependency was identified between parameters of respiratory function, immunological indices and radiation dose higher than 500 mSv. In liquidators with COPD a direct relationship was identified between the severity of disease and levels of cytotoxic T lymphocytes. Field of application - medicine.
