Essay

The thesis is dedicated to the problem of preschool education development in Kyiv region during the second half of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century. The author analyzed the historiography and the source base in the research, developed the periods of pre-school education in Kyiv region in the second half of XX - the beginning of XXI century: the Soviet period (1958-1991) and the period of independent Ukraine (1991-2010). Within the framework of two periods four stages of the preschool education development are singled out: the first stage (1958-1972) - the search of the ways to strengthen the relations of the pre-school education with life, the second stage (1973-1983) - the unification of preschool education, the third stage (1984 -1991) - the updating of the ethnographical component in the content of preschool education according to the partial democratization, the fourth stage (1991-2010) - the modernization of preschool education. The author determined the development background of preschool education, which led to its transformation in the second half of the twentieth century and revealed the genesis of early childhood education in Kyiv region in the Soviet era (1958-1991) and the period of independent Ukraine (1991-2010).
