Essay

The object of the research is the system of professional training of philology teachers-to-be in the universities of Great Britain; the subject matter of the research is the contents and technologies of professional training of philology students in British universities by means of electronic distance learning; the goal of the research is to substantiate the peculiarities of the experience of training philology teachers in British universities by means of electronic distance learning. Also the aim is to identify the possibilities to apply creatively the progressive ideas of British experience in educational establishments of Ukraine; methods of research - theoretical: interpretation analytical method to study the level the chosen problem is investigated in the works of native and foreign scientists; terminology analysis to define the key concepts of the research; diachronic method to determine the features of development of distance learning in Great Britain since 1854 till 2012; analysis of the regulations to identify the peculiar features of distance training in British universities; the method of comparative analysis and scientific extrapolation to identify common and distinctive features of training philology teachers by means of electronic distance learning in Ukraine and Great Britain; the method of typological analysis to systemize and generalize the investigated materials and draw the conclusions; empirical methods: content analysis of the blog of electronic distance learning in Great Britain; interviewing, polling, discussing (in text chat, videoconferencing, webinars) the identified problems in order to study the socio-cultural features of British education; the scientific novelty - of the research is in the fact that: for the first time the positive features and drawbacks of training philology teachers by means of electronic distance learning are substantiated; the possibilities of applying the progressive ideas of British experience are described; author's model of electronic learning course is developed; the efficiency and possibilities to use the latter are proved as based on the British experience; normative legal documents, models, organizational forms, the contents of training philology teachers in British and Ukrainian universities by means of electronic distance learning are analyzed and compared; didactic peculiarities of distance learning (theories and models) are characterized; the system of training philology teachers by means of electronic distance learning is improved through creating the author's electronic learning course; the meaning of key concepts of distance learning is specified; further developed are the processes of reforming the system of higher education in Ukraine, mainly the system of training philology teachers by means of electronic distance learning in higher educational establishments of Ukraine.
