Object of study: chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); aim - to study the basic factors of development of lung diffusion function disturbances and to determine their possible correction in COPD patients; methods: clinical, laboratory, functional, statistical; novelty: new data were generated about the condition of lung diffusion function as one of most important indicators of lung gas exchange in COPD patients in different stages of disease. It was established that the increases of severity of the disease had been associated with an increasing hyperinflation and significant decreasing of diffusion lung capacity. A comparative evaluation of effect of salbutamol inhalation and end expiratory positive pressure manure on lung ventilation was accomplished for the first time.
