The dissertation is devoted to the complex research of the development of Ostroh volost in the late XVII and the first third of the XVIII centuries. The author of this research work investigated the terms and factors of the socio-economic development of the region and established the owners, the structure of landownership and the mechanism of administration of Ostroh volost. The quantity, social structure and ethnic composition of the population were determined. The economic condition of Ostroh volost was characterized in this thesis. The development of handicrafts, trades and commerce were analyzed, the level of agriculture in villages was studied.
