Essay

Complex investigation of sports movement in Donbas during the years 1943-1953 in context of social history of the region is carried out. Based on the analyses of literature and the original sources on the problem there was observed evolution of place and role of physical culture and sports in state policy of the soviet state under conditions of the war and postwar reconstruction on the example of Industrial Donbas; were revealed special functions where physical culture and sports played in everyday practices of the population of the region; investigated the formation of the main kinds of sports in Donbas.
