The object of the research – the Svyatogorsk monastery as one of centres of religious, political, economic and cultural development on Slobozhanshchina middle of the XIX – beginning of the XX centuries. The dissertation purpose: the complex research and analysis of cultural and economic activities of the Svyatogorsk monastery middle of the XIX – beginning of the XX centuries. The methods: analysis, synthesis, generalization, description; historical-comparative, historical-problem, system-structural. Scientific novelty: it was revealed state of scientific research and source base re-search, observed the process of discovery, upswing and transformation Slobozhanshchina into spiritual center in dissertation; it was analyzed the role of individual clerics in revival of the Svyatogorsk monastery; it was investigated the features of agricultural development and industry of the monastery; the formation of large agrarian and property owner-ships, diversified structure of the economy of the monastery turned it into one of the richest one in the region; application of the progressive forms of managing contributed to this process; the attention was paid to relation between holy orales’ power and high life power in the process of settling and development of the Svyatogorsk monastery; in this work it was attempted to make compete picture of the cultural and educational activities of the Svyatogorsk monastery in XIX – beginning XX centuries and to define its principal lines; it was noted productivity of the opening of the educational institutions, libraries and reading-rooms, circulation of religious literature, formation of choir, carrying of cross processions, ministry in churches; in dissertation was revealed the role of the nobility and intelligentsia in the development of the patronage, which directed to assistance in recovery of the Svyatogorsk monastery; it was studied process of liquidation of the Svyatogorsk monastery in 1922; it was regarded the repressed priests’ tragic destinies; so in dissertation it was defined features of the economy, cultural and educational activities of the Svyatogorsk monastery during the XIX – beginning XX centuries. Practical value of research: the materials of the dissertation can be used for development of the plans of excursion service routes, by preparation of special researches on a history of Ukraine, development of courses on study of Ukrainian, history of a religious idea, study of historical local-lore, history of museum business.
