The object of the research – the business, charitable and philanthropic activities of the domestic representatives of the business world in the second half of XIX ? early XX centuries. The dissertation purpose: сreation of the all-round characteristic of the business, charitable and philanthropic activities Kharitonenko family in the second half of XIX - early XX centuries. The methods: analysis, synthesis, generalization; problem-chronological, comparative-historical, historical-system; methods of statistics and social psychology. Scientific novelty: the peculiarities of formation Kharitonenko dynasty, their role in the social life of the country and the development of sugar industry in the second half of XIX - early XX centuries; considered the main trends and characteristics of the development and modernization of the economic complex activities that were based on the technical perfection of the production of sugar; the paper analyzed the meaning of the dynasty Kharitonenko in social infrastructure development during the second half of XIX - early XX centuries, which had a number of features associated with the formation of children's orphanages, the financing of health facilities, pharmacies, fire companies, the construction of sewers, roads and so on; the values of the business and social activities, family Kharitonenko as a basis for further active patronage and charitable affairs; we have investigated the financial support of socially significant institutions related to education, science and art; discovered and traced Kharitonenko family contribution to the spiritual heritage of the country, which is associated with the construction and restoration of churches, cathedrals, churches, and another in the second half of XIX - early XX centuries. Practical value of research: the materials of the dissertation can be used by development of generalizing works on a history of Ukraine, educational manuals on a history of local region, by preparation of lectures, special courses and seminars on a socio-economic history.
