Melnik A. Linguistic-and-cultural specifics of the translation of present-day animated movies.

This research addresses the analysis of lexico-stylistic and pragmatic specificity of the translation of American animated movies into Ukrainian and German from linguistic-and-cultural perspective. General strategies and specific language units used for representing culturally specific elements of animated movies in German and Ukrainian translations shaped the ground for the research. Translation of animated movies has been examined in the thesis not only as a specific kind of audiovisual translation with its inherent spatial and time constraints but also with regard to pragmatics. The research displays interaction between the function of present-day animated movies, its target audience and the choice of translation strategies. The author's model of presentation the original culturally specific elements has been identified. The use of pragmatic adaptation in translation of animated movies has been proved.
