Belik T. Psychological peculiarities of a personality's speech image.

Object of the paper is the phenomenon of personality's image.Subject of the paper is psychological peculiarities of the speech image of student's personality. In order to solve the tasks and to achieve the formulated objective the following research methods were used:theoretical: analysis, synthesis, comparison, colligation, systematization of the scientific literature regarding issues of personality's image and particularly the speech image;empirical: conversations, surveys (author's questionnaire on the subject of "Speech image and ecological systems interconnection" targeted at studying the students' understanding of interconnection of the speech image and the theory of ecological systems), complex of psychodiagnostic methods: J. Strelau's method of temperament diagnostics (aimed at studying the characteristics of a neural activity type); A. O. Rean's questionnaire on the subject of "Success motivation and fear of failure" (aimed at diagnosing failure motivation or success motivation); "Determining verbal and representational thought activity" method (aimed at diagnosing thought activity); T. Leary's method of diagnosing interpersonal relations (aimed at diagnosing an interpersonal style of the speech image); diagnostic instruments of psycholinguistics: the method of psychographological analysis (aimed at studying a speech style of image); the dictation (aimed at studying lingual style of the speech image);- mathematical and statistical treatment of empirical data: Pearson's r- coefficient (aimed at determining correlational ties between the components of the speech image and student's psychological peculiarities ); Fisher's criterion (aimed at determining differences in the level of the feature being studied): descriptive statistics (aimed at determining average, minimal, maximal rates in a group, standard deviation index); factor analysis procedure (main components analysis). Statistical treatment of data was performed with the help of SPSS software for Windows (version 10.0).Novelty of the thesis is that it is the first time when: study of the speech image of students' personality was carried out within the "personality's image" concept; definition of the speech image of personality was offered and a structural and functional model of the speech image was formed; peculiarities of students' speech image were established; speech image profiles were defined (profiles of active speech image, intellectual speech image, passive speech image); influence of psychological peculiarities of the speech image on its functioning was found; the meaning of the notion of styles in the structure of the personality's speech image was revealed (lingual, speech and interpersonal ones);potential zones of speech image dynamics were ascertained (self-regulation of an emotional state, thought activity development, growth of personality's self-appraisal); improvement was done concerning the idea of psychological peculiarities of the speech image of personality with taking into account the potential zones of its dynamics as well as the functions of personal development.systematization of different approaches and viewpoints concerning the study of personality's image got further development.Practical value of the results of the paper consists in designing a program of empirical research regarding the speech image of students' personality. The program can be broadly applied in the higher educational establishments. The designed author's questionnaire and procedure of psycholinguistic study of the speech image can be used for diagnostic and preventive purpose during the study of the problem of individual's efficient life activity. Research results can be used by educators during teaching the courses of "General psychology", "Social psychology", "Psycholinguistics", "Image psychology".Scope institutions of higher education, psychological services.
