Essay

The work is dedicated to study of pathomorphologic peculiarities of placentae in HIV-infection with various ways of transmission, with the use of antiviral treatment or absence of such. The material is represented by 55 cases of pregnancy, 45 of which were accompanied by HIV-infection - 20 cases of HIV-infection (infected by injection) in women who did not receive specific antiviral therapy (20 placentae), 15 cases of HIV-infection (infected by injection) in women who received specific antiviral therapy (15 placentae), 10 cases of HIV-infection in women with non-injective way of transmission (10 placentae) and 10 cases of physiologic pregnancy (10 placentae). Organometric, common histological, histochemical, immunohistochemical, morphometric, statistic methods of investigation were applied in the study. Placental insufficiency in HIV-infection forms because of pathologic immaturity of the placenta, hemodynamic disturbances and inflammatory processes. Structural changes in the placentae have maximum manifestations in the group of HIV-infected women with injection way of transmission without specific therapy.
